Sculpture

This is a replica of an ecorche (which is a medically accurate model of the muscular system) The assignment was to replicate it using Chavant oil clay (which doesn't harden as it is an oil based clay)

Drawing

This is a still life i recently completed in my Drawing II class at Ringling. We are studying warm and cool shadows, and reflective light. This is done in chalk pastel and charcoal.

Digital Painting

These two were parts of my final project for a 2D design class at Ringling. The first part of the assignment was to create an abstract piece (pictured at left) in black and white, combining all the elements we learned about throughout the semester (i.e. rhythm, composition, contrast, emphasis, balance, etc.)  We then had to make the abstract into a representational piece (pictured below) this time adding color scheme.

These were both completed in photoshop.

Digital Painting

This was a project for my 2D Design class at Ringling. It is done completely in photoshop and displays three different types of rhythm while sticking t a triadic color scheme.

Drawing

This was my perspective final at Ringling. The assignment was to draw something falling out of the sky!! This requires a three point perspective. This was done in graphite pencil on bristol board.

Drawing

This piece was for my perspective class at Ringling. It is a cityscape of an old wester city. Done in graphite pencil. I apologize for the poor quality image! :/

Drawing

These are two of the figure studies i just posted, this time paired with their overlay studies of the skeletal and muscular systems. The overlays were done on vellum with conte crayon.

Drawing

Sorry if these are a bit graphic, but i assure you i have gone easy on ya here as far as nude drawings go! There are each hour long figure studies done in charcoal, and graphite.

Drawing

These are skull studies from my figure drawing class. They're done in charcoal and white chalk pastel.

Drawing

This was a project for my perspective class at Ringling. The assignment was to create a themed room in two point perspective, with two light sources. My room is a voodoo shop, and has light emanating from the door leading ouside, and the lamp on the counter. This is done in graphite pencil.

Painting

This was a project for my 2D Design class at Ringling. The assignment was to create an abstract painting which coveys the feeling of a certain season, and only uses mainly complimentary colors (mine also has a accent color)

My painting conveys Autumn (hopefully you agree), through the complimentary colors red and green with an accent of orange.

Digital Painting

This is a photoshop painting i did of a lion's bust. Did this just for fun.

Digital Painting

This was my second attempt at photoshop painting. This was before i had a tablet, and i had to do it all using my laptop track pad.....talk about finger cramps.

Drawing

These images are of my Drawing final from my second semester at RISD. The project was to study anything we wanted for 6 weeks! I had the idea to study hands and feet (which, of corse, are the toughest parts of the body to draw), and at the same time train myself to be ambidextrous!

This piece is about 4 feet x 5 feet, and is done in chalk pastel, and charcoal. Everything in orange was done with my left hand, and everything in green was done with my right hand.( i am a righty)

Mixed Media

This is a personal logo i had to design in my 2D design class at RISD. It had to include our initials and the rest was up to us!

My logo is a Macaw inspired by my high school nickname 'micaw'......don't ask.

My initials are located in the beak.

Sculpture

This is not a great picture of this piece, but its the only one i can find at the moment! This was my final project for a spatial dynamics class at RISD. The project was to make a hat that covered your eyes, and was inspired by two other artists. It also had to have a special effect.

My hat is completely structured with goblin-like creatures which i sculpted out of wire, tinfoil, and sculpey and then painted with acrylic paint. Finally, i added some lovely drool with some drippy hot glue. There is a sound box under the largest one's belly, so when i press a button, the monsters come to life with snarls, and screeches. My attire also went with the theme, as we had to perform with our hats for the final grade.

Mixed Media

This piece was a study of the wonderful city of Venice, Italy. It is an underwater depiction of the amazing city, and its underlying structure (as i imagine it to be)

Done in acrylic paint, watercolor paint, and colored pencil.

Sculpture

This sculpture is from my second semester of my freshman year at RISD. It was a spatial dynamics class and the assignment was to do something that made you happy! I love to do tedious, tiny things, so i made this sculpture out of colored pencils.

But here's the kicker.....they're not real colored pencils!! i created each and every one of the 508 pencils used in this sculpture. They are made out of sharpened wooden dowels, and painted with acrylic paint. I then glued them together with hot glue.

Drawing

These two pieces were requirements for applying to the Rhode Island School of Design, where i attended a year of schooling before transferring to the Ringling College of Art and Design.

The assignment was to create a piece that had an image on both sides of the paper. Thats it. It could be anything you wanted! Just had to cover two sides.

Mine is titled "Diaper Change" showing the beginning and end-ish of life.

Drawing

This piece is from my pre-college days, but i am still proud of it so here it is! It is done in pencil, and colored pencil. (2010)
